Another thing that we will miss is all the fresh produce! There are farmers markets all around. This time of year is festive as families go to farms to pick their apples and pumpkins and to take hayrides. There are lots of varieties of apples that grow in this area: Macon, Cortland, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Empire, Honeycrisp and more.
Washington's Crossing
This last week the CES missionaries drove down to Trenton to visit Washington's Crossing. We started on the New Jersey side then crossed the Delaware along where Washington and the Continental Army crossed back in 1776.
On the Pennsylvania side, the McConkey's Ferry has been restored. We took a tour of the area. It is beautiful this time of year, but when the crossing took place it was during a blizzard in the middle of the night on an ice-choked river. We saw reproductions of the heavy Durham boats and could envision what it might have been like. It took about 12 hours to get everyone and everything across the river in the middle of the night and early morning. It was very interesting. I am loving all the history here.

Tucson Temple Groundbreaking
The most exciting news of the last couple of weeks is the groundbreaking for the Tucson Temple! We tuned in and watched the live ceremony on Saturday, October 17. We took some photos trying to capture some memories but then shortly thereafter we started getting lots of photos on Facebook. There was a light rain that fell just as the program started, but then it cleared up. President Uchtdorf called it "liquid sunshine". Usually the First Presidency does not attend groundbreaking ceremonies, but President Uchtdorf volunteered for this assignment. It is a happy day in Tucson!!!

Classes and Activities
We continue to be busy with preparing for our classes, teaching, planning and preparing food and refreshments. Our next big activity will be a Halloween Dance this coming weekend. We will post pictures of the fun next time.
