Talent Shows
 
On Saturday, May 24th, the senior missionaries got together in Scotch Plains for a potluck dinner and talent show.  Most in this group will be returning home this summer. Come September we will be some of the 'old-timers' for the seniors.

 After the potluck, each set of missionaries were asked to perform some kind of talent. Sister Young, Sister Horning, and Elder Hancock and I made up a song that we sang to "Little Nash Rambler" about New Jersey driving.

Here are the words to the song that we sang.  It describes some of what we encounter each day on the roads of New Jersey.

The next weekend, May 31st, the East Brunswick YSA's met in Eatontown and also had a talent show.  Here is a look at some of the acts.

Along with the usual acts of singing, dancing, and playing the piano, we witnessed slap dancing, juggling, playing songs on bottles, and card tricks.


Institute Class in English

Since our second week here, we have been consistently teaching Institute classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings to the Spanish speaking young adults.  This last month we were asked to add an English class to our agenda.

During the summer, many young adults come here to sell pest control contracts.  Another group is here selling solar panels.  This group of young adults have been a great addition to the East Brunswick YSA Branch.  They have helped to double (maybe even triple) the attendance in the branch.

Every Thursday morning, Elder Hancock and I go to Insight Pest Solutions and teach in the warehouse there before all the salesmen are expected to report for work.  We bring a light breakfast to encourage attendance. Most (if not all) of these young adults are returned missionaries and know the gospel well. Last week when we played "Book of Mormon Jeopardy" after class, they knew the answers to ALL the questions - except Elder Hancock's question:  the "name of Nephi's horse!"

As you can see, Elder Hancock has these young people sitting on the edge of their seats.  Elder Hancock is a good teacher and these youth are eager to learn and study the scriptures.
